Gäbi’s Coffee & Bakery

The Burrata Cheese salad from Gäbi Cafe.

Gäbi’s is a hidden gem in this world of “one of a kind” places to eat. Usually when I go to one of my favorite restaurants or bakeries or anywhere I like to eat, they are all the same. They all have their kitchen in the back, up-to-date modern decor, and the only thing that’s really different about them is what they’re serving. Gäbi’s is something new and exciting, in fact this cafe, is a secret. The only way you would know about it is if you knew somebody who has been there. Gäbi’s doesn’t even have a sign outside the cafe that screams “come here,” people simply go because they heard it was a fantastic place to be.

From the decor, tea, coffee, to desserts and meals, most customers find this a great way to relax, get work done, try something new, go out with a friend, take a date, or to just snap pictures. Starting with the decor, it is very unique because everything is different and out of the box. The chairs, couches, and tables are all different shapes, sizes, designs, and height, but they seem to pull it off with any place you sit being a picture perfect spot. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and visitors can see through it, almost like a greenhouse. Gäbi’s uses hand painted buckets as numbers for orders for when they bring out food. Gäbi’s has 2 iconic book shelves that you can actually read their books from, one of these areas has big steps and even a slide! You can sit crisscross applesauce on mats with your table tray on the bookshelf and slide down afterwards. Their decor and attention to detail may be amazing, but their beverages are absolutely to die for. All of their cold drinks come in these oddly shaped glass cups with a big black straw, and their tea comes in beautiful teapots with tea cups and an under-plate. Gäbi’s is also a bakery, and while everything looked amazing and had much attention to detail, I chose to get the red velvet cinnamon roll. It was the perfect consistency, amount of velvet, frosting, and portion. Last but not least, the food. It all looked really good, but they didn’t seem to have many options other than bread, sandwiches, and salads. Some might say the food took an acquired taste, but I really enjoyed it! Overall I think Gäbi Coffee & Bakery is beautiful, delicious, and has a story to tell.
