Aviators slide into their first win
Las Vegas’ new minor league baseball team, the Las Vegas Aviators, stepped on the city’s new field for their franchise opener on Tuesday, April 9.
The team which was previously known as the 51’s, was welcomed with open arms by fans gathered in the new stadium next to City National Arena. The game ended with the Aviators sliding into a win with an eight-point lead over the Sacramento River Cats.
Faith senior, Nycole Oliver, cheered on the team from the stadium seats on Tuesday.
“The fans were ‘all in’ for the team this year. Almost everyone I talked to had season tickets and they said they don’t plan on missing one game this season,” Oliver said.
The Aviators play the Fresno Grizzlies tomorrow, April 12, at 7 pm at the Las Vegas Ballpark.
