7 inches of snow and no snow day
The city of Las Vegas was hit with snow throughout the night Wednesday, February 20. Faith Lutheran students woke up the next morning to inches of snow on their cars and icy driveways. The Clark County School District made the executive decision at 5 a.m. that school would indeed be in session.
Some classes spent their first block classes outside enjoying the snowfall and participating in snowball fights. Students still tell us they’d rather be at home, and feel CCSD’s conclusion was ignorant and dangerous, though a tough one.
“It’s always a tough decision, I don’t know that there’s a right decision… If the roads would have looked like this at 5 a.m. I’m pretty confident that schools would have closed,” said Faith Lutheran CEO, Dr. Steven Buuck.
An insider also informs us that the heat within the school building was not working when students arrived to school this morning Thursday, February 21, though it is now fixed.
