Crusaders bounce back with victory in week 2

The Crusader defense lines up against the Eagle offense as they prepare to play another down.

Last week, everything went wrong for the Crusaders. This week, everything went right, as Faith soundly beat the Bakersfield Christian Eagles 42-28 in week 2 of their season. Five minutes in the first quarter, Crusader quarterback Sagan Gronauer started the game strong with a 30 yard rushing touchdown, and after that, the game quickly went out of hand, with the final score ending up 42-28. Both sides of the ball played well, as the offense scored 28 points through the efforts of Gronauer (four total touchdowns, one interception) and receiver Peyton Thornton (86 yards, 2 touchdowns). The defense had a solid game as well, with players Greg Oliver and Keagan Touchstone each returning interceptions for touchdowns (Touchstone on the play set the new school record for interceptions in a career, 13). Dropped passes and poor play overall plagued the Eagles, as they were never truly able to string enough good plays together to mount a comeback. The Crusaders play the Chandler Wolves from Arizona on Saturday in the Polynesian Classic at Liberty High School.
