Peyton Thornton Rising up on the Field
For many young football players, it’s a goal to start on the varsity team at their high school. Peyton Thornton has been wanting this ever since he started playing football.
Peyton said “It’s been my goal since kindergarten. I always used to go to the football games. I would look up to them and I remember thinking to myself I want to play on varsity when I get older. This year I’ve noticed how there are always little kids putting their hands out for a high five. I think to myself I remember doing that when I was a little kid. It’s cool to think that there are people looking up to you the way I looked up to the football players”
Thornton began to start as a wide receiver on the varsity team this past fall. He ended the season with 607 total yards and seven touchdowns, establishing himself as a trusted target for quarterback Sagan Gronauer.
However, Peyton is still not satisfied, already looking ahead to what he needs to improve upon for next season.
“I think I’m a pretty good player, I just need to get faster,” explained Thornton.
Even his mother Ms. Thornton has some ideas for how her son can get better at the sport he loves.
“He can improve on his physical strength so he is more difficult to bring down after he catches the ball, along with being able to shake off talented DB’s in the league.”
Through hardworking, dedication, and just maybe listening to his mother’s advice about his game, Peyton looks to take the next step his junior year to become Faith’s new number one target.
