The Wolverine Movie Review
The second film in my countdown review series to Logan, the final film in which Hugh Jackman will portray the character is The Wolverine. Directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine follows the story of wolverine as he is summoned to japan by an old friend but is then thrown into a conflict that causes him to confront his own demons. I think the first 2 acts of this film are spectacular but the 3rd act is just crazy. I think what happened there was thrown in by the studio but everything else was great.
This movie captured the parts of wolverine’s tortured past as he now lives in the forest and keeps away from society after the events in X-Men The Last Stand (2006) in which he killed Jean Grey. I think the action in this movie is phenomenal as well as it integrates some Japanese martial arts with the addition of claws. I think the story was great and it would have been a X-Men mystery thriller if the third act didn’t screw it up. I think the extended version was better but the third act really threw off the story. I think it was also a brutal movie even with a PG-13 rating. I think its still a enjoyable movie but the third act is really flawed as it involves a giant silver samurai so I think I’ll leave it there.
I give the Wolverine a 7.9/10.
