The Lego Batman Movie Review

The Lego Batman movie is a spin-off of the very successful Lego Movie (2014) and follows the story of batman that must not only deal with the criminals of Gotham City, but also the responsibility of raising a boy he adopted. I actually enjoyed The Lego Batman Movie more than The Lego Movie because I think this batman more had more heart and meaning for me. There is a bit of bias because batman is my favorite superhero from the DC comics and I enjoyed Will Arnett’s narcissistic take on the hero in the Lego movie and I got a full movie of a the most hilarious portrayals of batman ever. I thought maybe the movie would have extremely childish jokes but I thought most of the jokes were gut busters.

The cast is brilliant and included many people I thought were great for their first time voice acting. Zach Galifianakis, Ralph Fiennes, Rosario Dawson and Michael Cera are just some of the voice actors who did a phenomenal job. Zach Galifianakis  who plays the joker did a really good job and was pretty funny. The movie also has one of the best portrayals of the relationship between Batman and The Joker. The movie also has a ton of cameos and easter eggs from comics too. The most obvious cameos are from the villains that escape the phantom zone which include Sauron, Voldemort, King Kong, Godzilla, and some Gremlins. Michael Cera also did a great job voicing Dick Grayson or Robin who is batman’s adopted son. The over arching theme is that you shouldn’t go through life alone and friends and family are the most important thing in life as batman likes to work alone and never wants help partly because he is narcissistic and partly because he is afraid to be apart of a family after his parents were killed. The animation is also great and has some pretty cool action as well.

I think the Lego batman movie is fantastic and it leaves me excited for what The Lego Ninjago Movie will bring to the table in November. I give The Lego Batman Movie an 8.7/10.
