Rings Movie Review
Rings is the third installment in the series and follows the story of Julia who becomes worried after her boyfriend goes missing after leaving for college. A professor conducting a social experiment on a videotape that kills you in 7 days is connected with several mysterious deaths. ( these are run on sentences)
Rings is a very unnecessary movie as the first movie back in 2002 was successful at being scary and having an intriguing story. Rings takes the concept of the videotape that kills you and turned it into a typical story. It has the traditional horror trope where people make stupid decisions and put themselves in danger. ( Run on sentence)
The movie is not even scary or intense, its very bland and boring and feels way too long. This is better acting then the Bye Bye Man but its still terrible as none of it is convincing and it seems as bland as the movie. The movie spends its time with people telling the main characters to not do something but them doing it anyway, continually putting themselves in danger as if they want to die.
The supernatural being or antagonist in the movie, Samara is barely in the movie even though the movie centers around her and her origins but the origins are sloppy and when she does appear, which is supposed to be the most intense parts of the movie really just falls flat with traditional jump scares and characters who are so boring along with the way the movie is executed is really a huge fail.
The movie is just pointless and it could have been better but the movie is an hour and forty two minutes of pure stupidity. I could tell everyone else was bored because people were on their phones in the middle of the movie. I give rings a 2/10. This is the worst movie I’ve seen this year so far and I hope no one else sees it because its just a huge waste of time.
