When three college students move into an old house off campus, they unknowingly unleash a supernatural entity known as The Bye Bye Man, who comes to prey upon them once they discover his name. The friends must try to save each other, all the while keeping The Bye Bye Man’s existence a secret to save others from the same deadly fate.

The Bye Bye man is not a good movie to see by yourself. I don’t mean that the movie is terrifying because its far from good or scary. If you see it alone, you would probably want to walk out because of how silly it is. I saw with a big group of friends and it was a lot of fun. All of us would rip on the movie when something stupid happened and the general atmosphere was just fun. I think the concept of The Bye Bye Man was pretty good but the execution was very sloppy. When you actually see the bye bye man himself, he is not scary, though he does have a really bad scar and wears a hoodie and jeans. The bye bye man also has a CGI dog that is so animated that it looked like it came from a kid’s TV show. The movie also has a collection of random scenes that are never explained apart from the awkward things the bye bye man makes the characters see. The movie is really about people killing others and then end up blaming it on the bye bye man. Horror movies are usually about ordinary people thrown into extraordinary situations but in this case, its extremely stupid people who are thrown into the situation. They perform a whole ritual that causes the bye bye man to come after them. Honestly, the movie never tells us if the bye bye man is real as everyone who has had an experience with him ends up killing themselves. I think the bye bye man is really a threat that lives in your consciousness, and not an actual physical threat which is what’s part of the bye bye man being a cool concept. I think if they had better writers it could have been a better movie. I think its more of a guilty pleasure if you go with friends but if you leave that part out, its honestly not a great movie.

The experience I had was fun and I would throw it on at a Halloween party or something, but nothing more than that, so I give The Bye Bye Man a 6/10.
