Inauguration Day Protests

Protests are being planned to interrupt Donald Trump’s Inauguration on January 20 all across social media.

With the Inauguration of Donald Trump scheduled to take place on Friday, January 20 some people are still not satisfied with the results of the election.

After telling Trump and his supporters to accept the results of the election peacefully, some Democrats seem to be doing just the opposite with plans to protest at Trump’s inauguration, some going as far to say they want to stop it from happening. A number of celebrities and political figures, such as New York mayor Bill de Blasio will be participating in the protest too. The group Bikers for Trump has vowed to “form a wall of meat” to block any anti-Trump protesters from interrupting the Inauguration. The leader of the group said “In the event that we are needed, we will certainly form a wall of meat. We’ll be shoulder-to-shoulder with our brothers. And we’ll be toe-to-toe with anyone who’s going to break through police barricades.”

After seeing posts on social media under #disruptj20 talking about burning the capitol burning, spray painting over police face masks and armoured car windows, and bringing shields and gas masks to counter anti-riot measures, the Inauguration will need all the protection it can get. With the majority of posts under the hashtag only talking about peaceful protest, we can only pray everything will go well this Friday, and that the American tradition of a peaceful transition of power will not be broken.
