iPhone 7 Review

Side by side comparison from iPhone 7 plus to the iPhone 6.

The new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus came out early September, like anyone in the Apple ecosystem we all got ecstatic when Apple unveiled the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. I wouldn’t lie that while I was watching the Apple keynote, I was anticipating to see if the new Iphone would be correct to all the rumors that we have heard leading up to the keynote. At the same time, I was hoping that for once the community was wrong, all the rumors we have found were false so that Apple could blow our minds. (They do ever year. But I digress.) When the Ceo of Apple, Tim Cook got on the stage and showed the world, the new Iphone 7’s all doubt in my mind left, and I was left in awe. I knew that I had to get the new Iphone and see if the phone lived up to the hype.

First of all the new Iphone finishes look superb. Apple was bringing it back with the retro Jet Black, alongside with space gray color which looks more matte black. No matter the color all of them look spectacular. Pictures don’t convey how clean and modern the new Iphones look. With the all new Iphones no more antenna bands that take away from the overall look of the Iphone. Out of all the new Iphones Jet Black and Space Gray hide the antenna bands the best. The others are much better than their predecessor for hiding their antenna bands. But all-in-all the new phones don’t resemble any of their past ancestors with a new modern, sleek look.

Like all iPhones, the price is a factor when buying the new ones. For the iPhone 7 plus’, the starting price is $769.00 with 32 gigabytes. With the big boy costing $969.00 with 256 gigabytes. The iPhone 7 starts at $649.00 with 32 gigabytes and the top end costing $849.00 with 256 gigabytes which may break the bank if you’re thinking about buying the new Iphone. It is a hefty price, but I believe that the price is justified for all the new features with the Iphone

With the new iPhones, there are a lot of new and exciting features implemented in the new iPhones. For example, the new iPhones are IP67 water resistant and dust resistant. The waterproofing came in real handy when I visited Austin. I was on the curb waiting to check my bags, I tripped and dropped my phone into a puddle, immediately thought that I was screwed but with the new waterproofing it was ok, in fact, the water dripped off like it was nothing. The new touch screen has Gorilla Glass 5 which is the strongest and newest coming from Gorilla Glass. But I’m not saying not buy a screen protector, always purchase a screen protector to have another layer of security. The real difference in the new iPhones is the removal of the headphone jack and the home button no longer being a physical button. Now that Apple has removed the headphone jack it brings up an interesting and relevant question, How do we listen to music and charge our phones at the same time? Well, there is no good way around it, Bluetooth speakers and headphones seem to be the way, but Bluetooth headphones are still not the mainstream way to listen to music. Which is a definite problem but with the innovation taken by Apple I believe that wireless headphones will come down in price for the market. When I talk about wireless headphones, I know there are cheap ones on the market but I’m talking about is quality wireless headphones that will last and look stylish. The new home button is a little weird to getting used to. It’s no longer a physical home button but a taptic feedback engine. The new camera set up on the iPhone 7 plus gives it a 10x zoom with great low light shots. With the two cameras also creates 50% more light wth a wider shot as well. The screen is new this year around with the new iPhones, switching to a new rRetina HD display. For anyone out there it is sporting a 1920 by 1080 wich comes to a nice 401 ppi (pixels per inch) for the Iphone 7 plus and a 1334 by 750 wich comes to 326 ppi for the iPhone 7. Creating super sharp looking images as well as lights and darks being more vibrant. Bright colors look more natural and clear against a dark background, while dark colors look darker than usual.

All in all the new iPhone 7 has a lot of new features that make an upgrade worth it, in my opinion, IP67 water resistant and dust resistant alongside the new design and color of the new iphones. Final thoughts on the new iphones that if you’re looking into buying one of the new iphone, it is worth the money. From a 7 to a 7+ that may be a different story. With the dual camera setup, may sway your choice but either way both phones are definite contenders for this year’s best phone award. I would give the new iPhones a 4.5 out of 5.
