Seeking the Newest Thriller
It’s the classic sci-fi plot line; a little boy goes missing in a small town and all the signs lead up to extraterrestrial creatures. Have any of these shows been too addicting to watch for the common teenager? The newest addiction added to Netflix, Stranger Things, has many raising eyebrows with interest as to if this sci-fi thriller is really worth the couch time.
The eight-episode, first season of Stranger Things is based in a small town of Indiana in the 1980’s. The show has only premiered on Netflix for a few months, and is already breaking records becoming the best Netflix original series so far. Beating its competitors like: House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, and Daredevil in eight forty minute, edge-of-seat cliff-hanger episodes. The series is not only short and sweet, but has a terrific sense of mystery with every new discovery. Many critics are relating the first season to the series X-Files, praising Stranger Things for pulling off pieces of the story X-Files never could; and I couldn’t agree more with the reviews of the public.
The series, Stranger Things, was rejected by 15-20 networks before Netflix agreed to premiered its first season, and the public couldn’t be happier with Netflix’s decision. Although, many happy fans are critiquing the first season for being just “too good”, that they believe the second season will not be able to compete; just like the unfortunate transition from first to second season of True Detective, we will all just wait for the release of season two, which is rumored to premiere on Netflix in 2017. Let’s all be prepared for more mysterious news flashing on a screen for the next few months until the rumors come true!
