Undisputed: how well is the new FS1 show doing?

The new sports debate show Undisputed with Skip and Shannon debuted on Fox Sports 1 on September 1, last week.  The two guys who are starring in the new program are NFL Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe, and outspoken former member of ESPN’s First Take, Skip Bayless.  These two are teaming up to debate the hottest topics in sports.
The premiere of Undisputed was Bayless’s debut on Fox Sports 1, as he had been with ESPN since 2004.  He left ESPN and began his popular debate show, First Take, where he went head to head with Stephen A. Smith.  People were worried that Bayless would be done with sports talk, but FS1 brought him and Sharpe in immediately after he left ESPN.
The first showing of Undisputed underperformed, and rightly so, as only around 100,000 viewers tuned in for the debut. Minutes into the show, it is easy to tell that it is a clear rip-off of Bayless’s former show, as the layout is almost an exact copy and paste of First Take. The way the show is formatted is too similar, whether it is the way Bayless and Sharpe sit across each other, or the subjects of debate.

The first week of Undisputed was disappointing as there are seemingly two or three different subjects repeatedly talked about repeatedly.  As a lifetime Dallas Cowboys fan, wherever Bayless is, he is always (unreasonably) discussing them more than any other subject.  Also a well-known Tim Tebow supporter, Bayless always finds time to bring up Tebow, even when he has no relevance.  Shannon Sharpe bases his arguments on logic and facts, while Bayless always goes with his heart, which does not fit very well.

Overall, Undisputed with Skip and Shannon has disappointed people with its lack of creativity and pizzazz.  The refusal to discuss topics other than the Cowboys, Tim Tebow, and Lebron James, makes the show get old very quickly.
