Into The Woods

Broadway Bound has done it yet again with its new rendition of “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim. The Summerlin library theater is a great setting for this musical, the intimate 200 seat theater allows the audience to feel like they’re part of the performance itself. A unique aspect of this musical production is that Broadway Bound casted two separate sets of performers.

A number of Faith students were casted as main characters in this play. Tom Riggleman, a sophomore, was perfect for the role of Jack. Jack is a naive young lad, off to make at least five pounds, in order to get his pet cow “Milky White” back home. This journey, leads him to acquire 5 magic beans, which grow a beanstalk that take him on a great adventure, battling giants in the sky above. This role of Jack is one of Tom’s greatest roles to date. His rendition of “Giants in the Sky” brought the house down.

Jackson Langford, senior and seasoned veteran performer of The Conservatory of the Fine Arts and Broadway Bound, portrays the role of the Baker. The song Jackson sings about the loss of his wife will bring a tear to your eye.

Avery Wolfe, also a senior, plays the role of the baker’s wife. This role will give you mixed emotions. Avery gives a beautiful performance of “Moments in the Woods.”

Anthony Carro, a senior at Coronado, plays the precocious role of Cinderella’s prince. His song, Agony, is the comic relief of the show, where many audience members burst into laughter.

One of the most captivating performances in the show is, Grace Parker, as Cinderella. Her lyrical soprano voice is outstanding and she is already bound for the true Broadway stage in this reviewer’s opinion.
