Faith Lutheran remembers a beloved teacher
Mrs. Mary Dunning, a former religion teacher here at Faith Lutheran was loved by many. “[I loved] her overall personality. She would say hi in the halls even if you didn’t have her in class. She was a ray of sunshine.” said Baylee Bucher, a Faith alumni.
Mrs. Dunning was seen as a person to confide in with whatever questions or thoughts anyone ever had about life. “I loved talking with her after school about the Old Testament,” senior Krystal Petersen said.
“[We had] conversations about [me] being pregnant during the summer,” said Mrs. Buikema.
Tori Santos, Mrs. Dunning’s niece, reminisced about memories they shared together; “All the experiences and memories she had to share with me no matter where she was, either in Las Vegas or Hong Kong.”
After battling cancer, Mrs. Dunning was called home by her heavenly Father this past Tuesday morning.
In an email to all of Faith Lutheran’s employees, Dr. Steven Buuck offered some comforting words to all who are mourning, “Friends, Psalm 116:15 ‘Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.’ This morning, Mary Dunning rests in the arms of her Savior.”
The celebration of Mrs. Dunning will be held this Saturday, February 28 in the CPAC and a luncheon will be following the service. All are invited.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Dunning, their children Maggie and Jeremy, sisters Patty and Peggy and brother-in-law David Bever.
