Testosterone Volleyball: Going For The Trifecta
Every spring, each grade gathers a squad of their best suited men to try and bring back the title. Every player knows that when they take the court, they are not just representing themselves, they are representing and defending the honor of their grades. But this year, something is different. The 2014 seniors are two time defending champions and look to destroy any team that stands across the net from them. They will steamroll anyone on their quest for a third title. The senior team is a juggernaut, and who do they truly have to fear?
The seniors do take close consideration into all of their challengers, “Our biggest threat is whatever grade Marc Rubalcaba (11th) is in,” said senior David Recinto. There are plenty of threats everywhere, whether it is the young freshman trying to prove their worth, or the sophomores trying to rebound from their fourth place finish last year. Each team is hungry for the title.
But when it comes to Testosterone Volleyball, no one quite understands winning like the seniors do. The seniors won the title two years ago when they were sophomores, and last year when they were Juniors. David Recinto (12th) took us inside some of the preparations the seniors took for this year, “Well for the past months, we have kept a strict weekly ritual, which included yoga, Supersmash Bros, and long boarding. Yoga to unlock all chakras, supersmash bros to maintain hand eye coordination, and long boarding to keep our endurance high. So you can say we already have this years title on lock.”
This shows that even though Testosterone Volleyball may seem like a friendly activity, it’s nothing but seriousness and competitiveness the second they step on the court. Recinto speaks for all the seniors when he says, “We have prepared our entire lives for this…We finna get this 3peat.”
