Lords of the Rings
The title of Varsity Football State Champions is finally beginning to sink in here at Faith Lutheran.
On Thursday, February 6th, the varsity players attended their ring ceremony in Faith Lutheran’s Performing Arts Center. The event occurred during school in place of advisory for all those who contributed to the state championship.
Although the team won their title almost two and a half months ago, only recently have they truly felt what it means to have a state ring in their hands, ”It feels so good to have something like this after three years without one,” said senior Ricco Gonzales.
State championships do not come very often for most teams, and therefore they are not something to be taken lightly. The ring ceremony was a special occasion for both the players and coaches alike.
Finally being able to fully grasp their accomplishments maked for a very special day, “We’re all champions, and we worked hard to be them,” said senior Keenan Smith.
“I wanted a corporate celebration that would acknowledge this great accomplishment that we are so proud of and thankful to God for,” said head coach Vernon Fox.
The team has already started preparations for the 2014 season and will deal with the loss of more than fifteen senior players. This year’s team accomplished greatness and will look onward to the next season as Coach Fox takes on only his second year as a coach.
