The Unstoppable Force Meets the Immoveable Object
Super-Bowl XLVIII, the largest and most watched event of the year, comes this Sunday, February 2, 2014. This year two teams will face off in New York City, the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.
Not knowing who will win, the country chooses sides, makes bets, and settles in for the big game. “I think the Seahawks little birdy wings are about to get grounded,” said junior Krystal Petersen, ”because the Broncos are going to totally destroy them this year.” Not everybody has the same idea however, “Definitely the Seahawks because their defense is really good,” said junior Spencer Winningham.
Although not everyone’s favorite team makes it to the Super-Bowl each year, it’s still a good time for people to come together and support one team or the other. “[My favorite team is] the Chicago Bears because my whole family is from Chicago and they’ve had season tickets for awhile so they’re the first team I got to see play,” said sophomore Akiah Cepielik.
Different factors can affect the outcome of one or many football games. Since this year’s game will be played in New York City, the cold weather may have an impact throughout the game. “Because of how cold it will be, the determining factor will be whoever can survive the longest,” said Winningham.
This may prove to be false however, as both the Broncos and Seahawks come from high altitude, and harsh weather conditions.
To have made it to the playoffs and eventually to the Super-Bowl, teams must have incredible endurance, and both a great offensive and defensive game. This year, it seems clear as to who has the better of each end. Krystal Peterson said, ”Definitely Manning’s side [has the better offense] but the Seahawks have a pretty strong defense compared to the Broncos.” In the end, many people believe it will come down to who has the last possession of the game.
Different families and friends have all sorts of traditions for their Super-Bowl Sunday’s. All across the country bets take place and everyone gathers around to watch the game of the year.
Some viewers are also interested in other parts of the game, “I usually go over to my friends house for the Super-Bowl,” said Claire Tulak, ” but I mostly look forward to halftime because I like watching the performances and the funny commercials.”
The Super-Bowl will take place on Sunday February 2, 2014. Tune in to see what will happen when an unstoppable force meets an immoveable object when Denver Broncos take on the Seattle Seahawks.
