Winning: On and Off the Field
The 2014 Faith Lutheran Varsity Lacrosse squad is a team with a lot of expectations for the upcoming season. There is a wide variety of players, from young Freshman to veteran Seniors. No matter what the age, every player has the same goal, a state championship.
A big motto for the team this year is to work hard and set an example not only on the field, but also off the field. Senior, Grant Gravitt said, “Our goal is to start a brotherhood and work together as young men making a difference on and off the field.” Las Vegas is a very competitive city for the game of lacrosse. Faith Lutherans biggest rivals this year will be Centennial, Palo Verde, and defending state champions, Coronado. But all the good competition motivates the players to work harder, “Winning state is definitely an obtainable goal, and it is what we are working for every day,” said senior Michael Manfredi.
It doesn’t stop at just being one of the best teams in the city, Grant Gravitt believes Faith could be one of the “best teams on the West Coast.”
Faith plans to take it one game at a time, “Our goal is to play all four quarters every game, and never slow down like we have in the past,” said Manfredi.
No matter what the Crusaders accomplish this season, they are definitely one of the better lacrosse teams to ever come through Faith Lutheran. Even though the public bases success on who hoists the state championship trophy at the end of the season, there is more to it than that.
“As a captain, I really want this year to be a blueprint for years to come whether its on the field or off,” said Gravitt.
