The End of #FreeBritney

The most recognizable voice of the 90’s and early 2000’s, Britney Spears is now free from the Conservatorship of her father. Since 2008, Britney’s father has been in control of her life, making her personal and financial decisions. This has sparked the #FreeBrtiney movement in hopes to bring attention to the situation. Britney has gone to court in an attempt to end the conservatorship with her reason being, “ I think this conservatorship is abusive. I don’t think I can fully live.” which she told the court during her second hearing. Britney’s father, Jamie, placed Britney under a conservatorship because he was worried for his daughter and the decisions she was making. The decisions being made in 2007 were very public and gave the appearance of her life falling apart which made fans worried for their idol. Her father was perceived as a hero as he stepped up and took control of his daughter with the intention to help her. But, as time went on many were questioning if, Britney was unable to care for herself, how was she creating a new top selling album on her own? If you were to look over the years of Britney’s Conservatorship, it would appear that Jamie stayed in control over her for his own financial gain. One main issue is the fact that the conservatorship was meant to end in 2009, even though Spears made multiple attempts to end the power her father had over her life and it has continued into 2021. However, Jamie Spears is currently being placed under investigation for his approach to this control over his daughter. Through these investigations, it has been revealed that Jamie has secretly recorded his daughters conversations with her legal defense team. It is being assumed that Jamie is attempting to walk away from the conservatorship with $2 million of Britney’s money.
