Warming Up Our Tastebuds

Warming Up Our Tastebuds

Tis, the season to be jolly, and let’s face it, what makes many of us jolly? Starbucks, of course! That jolly feeling warms our hearts and our tastebuds when we think about those seasonal drinks on the holiday menu. Some of the favorites include the Gingerbread Latte and the White Chocolate Peppermint Latte. All of the holiday drinks are topped off with whipped cream and shaved peppermint or chocolate sprinkles. It’s a very special way to begin a school day or end it for many students.

“I like a Chai latte because it tastes like Christmas,” said sophomore, Sydney Stuhmer. Stuhmer admits to indulging in this holiday beverage at least two to three times per week, as does freshman, Megan Sonherholm. “[I like] a Peppermint White Mocha” said Sonherholm, “because I like minty things.”

The Caramel Brulee’ is definitely the most popular drink on the menu,”  said an employee of Starbucks, Jenn.   It is not only the favorite at the local Starbucks on Charleston and Town Center, it is the National favorite holiday drink.

There is a catch that has students disappointed here at Faith, and that is that many teachers forbid the drinks from coming into the classroom.

“I do not permit drinks in my room being things get spilled. Because I teach theology, my students all have the Bible out. I fear that a drink might be spilled on the Bible at some time,” stated Mr. Braun along with many other teachers of similar opinions on the drinks. Mr. Laufer, a notorious rule enforcer at Faith, “[doesn’t] allow them because the school policy is that the only drink allowed in the classroom is plain water in clear containers.”

Maintenance workers said that coffee is very difficult to get out of the carpet and it is the teachers responsibility to make sure those drinks and other drinks like smoothies are not coming into the classroom.

So, if you are thinking about perking up your morning with a hot holiday drink, you might want to make sure to finish it before you enter the classroom!
